Ahead of the race at home, the 2017 MotoGP France at Le Mans Circuit, Friday-Sunday (19-21 May) is. Zarco is again the fruit of lips, with this time in the transfer market drivers.
With his achievements at the start of the 2017 season, the 26-year-old rider has been on the brink of a raise. Yes, because the Yamaha team through Tech 3 is ready to secure Zarco services for 2018.
As is known, Zarco currently holds a 1-year contract for the 2017 season at Tech 3, with an option to extend in 2018. Tech 3 team owner, Herve Poncharal, seems to know very well the potential rider that Davide Brivio did not take to Suzuki (because Alex chose Rins).
Poncharal could have had an intuition to keep Zarco longer so he could fill the racer position in the Yamaha factory team, that's if Rossi decided to retire at the end of 2018.
"We have a one year contract with an option for 2018," Poncharal sputtered to Speedweek."I know Zarco and Jonas Folger are very happy with our team. Our hope is to continue the competition with them until 2018. We would look stupid if we wanted otherwise (not extend Zarco-Folger contract). And for both drivers, I feel the same desire to continue this collaboration, "he added.
Then whether everything is in control of Tech 3 and Yamaha? For the reason that a racer increases the duration of the contract, one of them is that they are offered a wider salary. And to get Zarco services, preferably Tech 3 and Yamaha should as soon as possible ask for his signature.
"Currently we have not talked about it (additional salary). We have a good relationship with both drivers, and we are talking about (contract) 2018, "said Poncharal.
Poncharal further explains: "It is true, if the 2018 contract has not been signed, the overall agreement still has not reached the 100 percent level. For now, I can only answer that. But things went pretty well as usual, I'm not too worried about it (contract 2018). "
"I think all parties understand the benefits if we (Tech 3 team with Zarco and Folger) through the second year together. Because we got great support from Yamaha. The drivers we love the bike, they also like his team, "he said.
